Broadband Installation Guide

Scroll
Connect Fibre Logomark

We make the full fibre broadband installation process easy. Our friendly engineers typically have you all set up and good to go within 1-2 hours of arriving at the property. Using the latest tech, including Wi-Fi 6 routers, you'll be experiencing hyperfast speeds in no time at all.

Connect Fibre Broadband Installation Process

Step 1:  Booking your installation

Once you've ordered your perfect package, we'll send a link to book your free installation slot. Your local engineers have plenty of slots to suit your needs. They're available between 9am and 6pm Monday to Saturday, so you won't be short of installation options.

Don’t worry - we’ll send you plenty of booking reminders. You can also change your slot for free anytime if you give us at least 48 hours’ notice.

Step 2: Preparing for your installation

Externally

To ensure everything runs 100% smoothly on the big day, we may visit your street beforehand. This is just a pre-check to identify any issues like blockages or unusual terrain. We won’t need to enter your property, but we may need access to your garden or drive.

If we do spot any issues, our support team will contact you to discuss options. We believe in getting the job done correctly and with full transparency. In some instances, this can include paying a non-standard installation charge - see our Price Book for more details.

Internally

We'll install the latest Wi-Fi 6 router in the best location so you get optimal Wi-Fi speeds and coverage. To find this location, our engineer will ask questions like:

  • Where are your Wi-FI devices that need fast speeds e.g. consoles and smart TVs?
  • Do you work from home during the day?  Where do you sit?

Have a think before the day about these questions so we can give you the best possible router placement.

Please note: We recommend that you do not cancel your existing contract with you current broadband provider until you are installed with Connect Fibre.

Step 3 Installation Day

The big day is here! On installation day, a Connect Fibre engineer will arrive promptly and carry out the following tasks:

  1. When the use of ladders is required to attach the external cable, the engineers use a safe climbing system that requires a small hole  to be drilled externally for an anchor bolt , this is required to fix their ladder to the property and the hole will be filled once all work is complete.
  2. Drill a small hole though the external wall to connect the modem which needs to be next to a plug socket
  3. Install your new Wi-Fi 6 router in the best locations. If you ordered Connect Mesh for whole home Wi-FI coverage we’ll also setup your nodes  (don’t worry, they'll have spare nodes in their van if you want to upgrade on the day)
  4. Run a few quick tests to make sure that everything is working to our high standards
  5. Tidy up, check that you are happy with all the work with a quick survey, and then make sure you are ready to use your new full fibre service!

A few things to remember:

  • Someone over the age of 18 has to be present during the installation who is authorised by the account holder
  • We use our own engineers, and they are very friendly, so don’t be afraid to ask any questions or to say if you’re not happy with any of the work
  • Our engineers are trained to work safely and aren’t allowed to enter lofts, work above 5m, climb roofs, or move any furniture
